“Gender-affirming care” has been in the headlines over the last couple of months, and if you share our concern about chemically and surgically altering the bodies of vulnerable minors in the name of gender ideology, that’s good news. It’s good news because these stories highlight what many of us have long suspected: that “gender-affirming care” really isn’t care at all, and that medical organizations that turn a blind eye to the valid objections raised against these procedures are operating in a state of grievous error.
Below are a few of the top stories that you might have missed but will want to read. When you’re done reading them, share them with your friends, and anyone in your life who still thinks that “gender-affirming care” is settled science and that anyone who criticizes it is “phobic.”
If we’re afraid of anything, it’s kids’ developing bodies being permanently harmed. And frankly, everyone should share that phobia.
The Cass Report: In 2020, England’s National Health Service commissioned an Independent Review of Gender Identity Services for Children and Young People. This review, led by prominent British pediatrician Hilary Cass, is also known as the Cass Review. The Cass Review’s report, the Cass Report, was finally released on April 10th. This almost 400-page report highlights the lack of sound evidence for “transitioning” gender-confused kids, exposes the unsubstantiated claims being used to advance the current treatment model, and calls for prioritizing evidence-based practices over social justice narratives. The release of the Cass Report has already resulted in Scotland’s National Health Service putting a pause on new prescriptions for puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for young people, and it promises to have ripple effects around the world.

The WPATH Files: A startling revelation emerged with the release of leaked files from the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). These documents, obtained by journalist Michael Shellenberger and published as The WPATH Files: Pseudoscientific Surgical and Hormonal Experiments on Children, Adolescents, and Vulnerable Adults by researcher Mia Hughes, decisively expose what many conservative voices have been saying for years: that so-called “gender-affirming care” is the greatest medical scandal of our time.
“The WPATH Files show that what is called ‘gender medicine’ is neither science nor medicine,” said Shellenberger, President and founder of Environmental Progress, the think tank that published the report. “The experiments are not randomized, double-blind, or controlled. It’s not medicine since the first rule is to do no harm. And that requires informed consent.

Children to stop getting puberty blockers at gender identity clinics, says NHS England: According to England’s National Health Service (NHS), the “science” isn’t settled on “gender-affirming care.” In fact, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
The NHS released a new policy statement on March 12, 2024 that says: “NHS England has carefully considered the evidence review conducted by NICE (2020) and has identified and reviewed any further published evidence available to date. We have concluded that there is not enough evidence to support the safety or clinical effectiveness of PSH to make the treatment routinely available at this time.”

Transgender ‘Treatments’ for Children One of the ‘Greatest Ethical Scandals in Medical History,’ French Report States: The French are hardly known for being conservative, and yet, a landmark report produced at the behest of the centre-right Les Républicains in the French Senate found that the medical industry embarked upon the practice of giving children life-altering transgender treatments with little evidence of its effectiveness while ignoring the side effects.

As Kids, They Thought They Were Trans. They No Longer Do: And finally, if you have been aware of the concerns about gender ideology for a while now, you might not find many surprises in this article (other than the fact that it was published by the New York Times!). But it’s still a solid piece of authentic journalism you won’t want to miss and a great link to pass to your liberal-minded friends who don’t trust “right-wing media,” but do trust the NYT.
This article discusses detransitioners, the “affirm trans youth or they will kill themselves” myth, the fact that a growing number of medical and psychological professionals have reservations about gender-affirming care, and more.

Despite all this new evidence available, the State of Massachusetts continues to promote and endorse a dangerous and scientifically disputed model of “gender-affirming care.” MA elected officials must prioritize the welfare of gender-confused children and young adults over the demands of activists. It is time for them to take decisive action to safeguard vulnerable Baystaters from the threats posed by the ongoing medicalization of gender confusion.
