It was election day this week across the country. At MFI, we believe that participating in elections is an important part of being “citizens of the kingdom.” As people of faith, we are called to be involved in our government, and voting is a fundamental way we exercise that responsibility.

In our state, we often feel the sting of political defeat. However, the results in Newburyport this week serve as a reminder that our voice matters, and we can affect change for the good of our communities. The citizens of “Clipper City” proved this on election day when they voted to ban retail marijuana in their city. Pastors in Newburyport worked with MFI before the vote to educate their community on what recreational marijuana is and the impact it can have in their city. Their efforts paid off.
