Prop 8 challenges continue in CA

There are currently thirteen (13) attorneys working on the legal defense team in California defending Proposition 8, the citizen approved law that upholds traditional marriage in California. This team includes some of the best civil litigators in the country, from both private law firms as well as public interest law firms such as the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF).

The cases challenging Prop 8 are currently before both the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the California State Supreme Court. The entire legal defense is funded by voluntary donations to the Prop 8 Legal Defense Fund. To date, more than 20,000 supporters like you have contributed at least once to the fund, but costs continue to rise.

Even with the help of pro-bono attorneys and ADF, the cost of this high-profile litigation has been enormous, with expenses in excess of $5 million. The prospect of appeals all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court could result in additional expenses of $3 million.

The Prop 8 Legal Defense Fund is in need of additional funding to continue the defense of Proposition 8 and the people’s right to define marriage. Please join me in helping support this worthy cause by CLICKING HERE and making a donation today. Thank you.
