A Way Out for Workers Who Feel Trapped in the Abortion Industry

Abortion enthusiasts not only encourage women to shout their abortions but they also honor the doctors who perform them. Abortion Provider Appreciation Day is next Monday, March 10th. While organizations like Planned Parenthood observe and celebrate this day, at MFI, we stand firm in our belief that every life is precious and deserves to be protected from the moment of conception. We strongly assert that abortion is not the “care” providers claim it to be, but a deeply harmful practice that impacts not only women and their unborn babies but also the medical professionals involved in the industry.

Abortion not only causes devastating physical and emotional effects for the women who undergo the procedure, but many who perform or assist in abortions also experience significant emotional distress. The weight of performing or facilitating abortions can lead to feelings of guilt, regret, and inner turmoil, especially for those who, over time, begin to question the ethics of the practice. For some, the sense of being part of a system that diminishes life rather than nurtures it can feel overwhelming. Even those who enter the industry with good intentions and bolstered by society’s acceptance of abortion may ultimately struggle with the psychological burden of their actions. As they witness the long-term negative consequences of abortion on women and themselves, they may feel isolated, conflicted, and powerless, trapped by a system that doesn’t offer a way out.

For those involved in the abortion industry who feel conflicted or want to leave, Abby Johnson’s organization, And Then There Were None, offers a compassionate and non-judgmental place for support. Abby Johnson, a former abortion clinic director, founded this organization to help abortion clinic workers exit the industry and find healing. In 2009, Abby discovered the true horror of abortion when she was asked to assist with an ultrasound-guided abortion where she watched in horror as a 13-week-old baby fought for, and ultimately lost, its life at the hand of the abortionist. That experience profoundly changed her. With resources, financial support, and a network of individuals who have gone through similar experiences, Abby’s organization provides a safe space for those seeking a new path.

If you or someone you know needs help or feels conflicted about their work in the abortion industry, reach out to Abby Johnson’s organization. It’s never too late to walk away, find support, and begin the healing process.

MFI will continue to speak out against the harms of abortion, affecting the unborn, their mothers, families, and abortion clinic workers. With your support, we can inspire a culture of life and help heal those impacted by abortion. Donate generously today to empower our vital work in protecting life.
