Liam Morrison’s Fight for Free Speech Boosted by Trump’s Executive Order

Since being sent home for wearing his “There Are Only Two Genders” t-shirt, Liam Morrison has become a courageous symbol of free speech and truth. His case has the potential to set a major precedent for students’ rights nationwide. In 2024, MFI, in partnership with the Alliance Defending Freedom, filed a petition urging the United States Supreme Court to hear Liam’s case. Since then, dozens of allied organizations, including Parents Defending Education, the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, and 18 state attorneys general, have submitted friend-of-the-court briefs in support.

Now, recent actions by the Trump administration may further strengthen Liam’s case. Earlier this year, President Trump signed an executive order titled “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.” This order mandates that the federal government recognize only two sexes, male and female, directly aligning with the statement on Liam’s t-shirt. While it does not change state laws, it could bolster his argument in court. If the Supreme Court agrees to take up the case, Middleborough school officials will have to contend with the reality that the Executive Branch now officially affirms the statement Liam proudly wore on his shirt.

Please continue to pray that the Supreme Court will hear Liam’s case later this year and deliver a positive ruling. We will keep you updated on case developments.
