MFI Supports MA Pregnancy Resource Centers Amidst Ongoing Opposition to Their Life-Saving Work

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is no friend to pregnancy resource centers (PRCs), as demonstrated by Governor Healey’s recent smear campaign on the so-called “Dangers of Anti-Abortion Centers.” Attacks against charitable PRCs have included vandalism, censorship, threatening physician licenses, and even falsifying official complaints. PRCs in Massachusetts have endured constant opposition from the State and local municipalities, and for one reason – they do not offer abortion.

MFI remains committed to supporting the crucial work of PRCs and defending them against hostile actors. That’s why recently we joined our PRC friends at the Celebration of Life Day at the Massachusetts State House. This inspiring event hosted by Massachusetts Citizens for Life and the Pregnancy Care Alliance of Massachusetts featured PRC directors who shared their vital work of supporting mothers in need and offering a life-affirming alternative to abortion.

Unlike the abortion behemoth Planned Parenthood, PRCs provide comprehensive information for the women who come to them seeking help, including how to reverse a chemical abortion with the use of the Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) protocol. Alarmingly, chemical abortions are on the rise. In 2023, 63% of abortions nationwide were medication abortions. And according to #We Count and the Society of Family Planning, 2,690 abortions in Massachusetts were performed by this method last year. But thanks to the education about the APR protocol that PRCs provide their clients, women who have a change of heart after the taking the first abortion pill are given a chance to preserve the life of their unborn child.

Sadly, according to data from the Guttmacher Institute, there were 21,430 abortions performed in Massachusetts in 2023. But PRCs offer hope for this dark statistic. They offer women real choice. A choice that doesn’t have to include a lifetime of pain and regret.

In spite of the underhanded tactics of the State to malign PRCs, they outnumber abortion centers by more than two to one in Massachusetts. While the Healey administration may dislike this fact, we see this as a hopeful indicator for the growth of the pro-life movement in Massachusetts.

Contrary to what abortion activists say abortion is not the solution for an unplanned pregnancy. Abortions take the life of a precious baby created in the image of God and burden vulnerable women with distress and sorrow. Loving and supporting mothers in need and encouraging them to choose life is one of the most effective ways to overcome the tragedy of abortion – and Massachusetts PRCs are doing just that.

We invite you to offer your time and resources to these amazing organizations and to pray for them as they continue to faithfully serve Massachusetts mothers and babies. Click here for a list of Massachusetts PRCs.

MFI will continue supporting the life-saving work of PRCs through local advocacy, holding State agencies accountable, lobbying legislators, and more. We ask you to fortify our efforts. Please consider a donation to enable our ongoing legal advocacy on behalf of Massachusetts PRCs.
