URGENT ACTION REQUIRED
We need you to act in the next few hours. S.2726, deceptively titled “An Act Regarding Free Expression” is scheduled for its third reading and a potential floor vote TODAY. This is one of the Pornographic Schoolbook Bills MFI has fought hard to oppose, and legislators could cast their votes before the day is out.
Under the guise of preventing so-called “book banning,” radical legislators are trying to strip local school committees of their ability to protect children from pornographic and age-inappropriate materials in school libraries and classrooms. This bill will give unfettered discretion to activist librarians to put inappropriate material on school library shelves and will allow individuals to sue school committees for trying to get these books off the shelves.
Read our brief on these harmful bills to understand exactly what is at stake.
We urge you to contact your legislators immediately and tell them to oppose this dangerous bill.
Every minute counts. Once the vote happens, it’s too late.
After you take action, please share this alert on social media and urge everyone you know to make their voices heard. Our children are counting on us.
