Supreme Court Denies Request to Hear Secret Gender Transition Case

Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court denied our request to hear Foote v. Ludlow School Committee, our case challenging Ludlow Public Schools’ policy of secretly participating in the gender transitions of children without their parents’ knowledge or consent. The Court provided no reason for its denial, which is typical when it declines a case.

While we are disappointed, we are committed to continuing in this essential fight for parental rights. When the parents we represented in this case reached out to us nearly 4 years ago, we were appalled by Ludlow’s blatant affront to their rights. In the case of one of the families, school officials were actively transitioning their 11-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son without their parents’ knowledge and against their wishes, interfering with the parents’ right to make mental health decisions for their children.  While this denial is certainly not the result we had hoped for, it has been a privilege to walk alongside and represent these families since the very beginning. We are also grateful to our national partners in this case, Alliance Defending Freedom and the Child & Parental Rights Campaign, for their hard work and dedication.

This is not the end of this battle. Public opinion is shifting in favor of parental rights on this issue, in large part because courageous families like our clients have chosen to speak up about the harms that gender ideology has inflicted on them. While Foote will not be going to the Supreme Court, its impact will be lasting: these cases have shone a light on the damage to children and families that was being done in the dark. We trust that the Supreme Court will soon grant a petition in a similar case and finally put an end to this unethical and unconstitutional practice. We will not rest until it does.

Your support has never been more important. Please stand with us as we defend parental rights across the Commonwealth, providing pro bono support to families and taking their cases as far as possible to protect their rights and set lasting precedent for others in similar situations.
