Update: Bill Number Change — Vote Happening Today
Since we first published this alert, the Committee has moved forward on the Radical Abortion Bills, recommending them “ought to pass” with an amendment. In practice, this means the original bill was substituted with a new one carrying the same title — and that new version, H5595, is the one scheduled for a vote today, July 22nd.
When contact your legislators, make sure to reference H5595, not the original H.2370/S.1563 docket numbers, so your message addresses the actual bill up for a vote.
H.2370/S.1563 (NOW H5595), “An Act prioritizing patient access to care,” pushed by extremist pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood, seeks to remove virtually all remaining protections in Massachusetts for unborn babies and their mothers.
Abortion is already on the rise in Massachusetts. As we have reported before, abortions in the Commonwealth doubled from 24,355 in 2023 to 49,450 abortions in 2024 – and if this radical abortion expansion bill passes, this number will continue to increase.
If passed, this bill would eliminate all limits on abortions after 24 weeks, allowing the killing of viable babies for any reason, or no reason at all. This bill would allow for the abortion of a healthy baby up until the moment of birth – codifying unrestricted access to late term abortion. This dangerous attempt to dehumanize the unborn will have deadly consequences if written into law – and we must stand against it.
Additionally, H5595 would expand who can perform abortions beyond physicians to other licensed clinicians. This strips away an additional layer of medical oversight currently in state law, putting women at increased risk.
