On March 11, we had the privilege of standing alongside Students for Life and many committed advocates at our Pro-Life Lobby Day at the Massachusetts State House. It was a day shaped not only by policy conversations, but by something more enduring: the quiet courage of the next generation.
There is something genuinely hopeful about watching young people step forward and speak with clarity in a state where doing so is not always easy. Their presence was steady and principled, a reminder that the work before us is not fading, but being carried forward with conviction. Moments like these do not happen on their own. They are made possible by a community of supporters who believe this work matters and choose to invest in it.
At MFI, our commitment remains clear. We believe in the inherent dignity of every human life, from conception to natural death. That belief continues to guide both our policy work and our presence in moments like this. Your support allows us to remain present in these spaces, to advocate effectively, and to equip the next generation to do the same.
There is also meaningful progress to recognize.
In recent weeks, two significant bills have been sent to study, effectively halting their advancement this session. Bill S.1579, the so-called “minor consent” abortion bill, and H.4122, which would have banned abortion pill reversal and targeted pregnancy resource centers, will not be moving forward. These outcomes reflect the sustained efforts of individuals across the Commonwealth who have remained engaged and willing to speak. They are a direct result of supporters like you who make it possible for this work to continue with consistency and focus.
At the same time, several proposals remain active and require continued attention.
Legislation that would legalize physician-assisted suicide, H.2505 and S.1486, continues to advance. These bills raise serious concerns about how our laws protect the most vulnerable, particularly the elderly, disabled, and those facing serious illness. Call Speaker of the House Ronald Mariano (617-722-2500) and urge him to oppose H.2505.
S.1486 was recommended “ought to pass” and referred to the Senate Ways & Means committee. Call Senate President Karen Spilka (617-722-1500) and the members of the Senate Ways and Means Committee listed here and urge them to oppose S.1486.
In addition, H.2370, a broad abortion expansion bill, remains under consideration. We urge you to call Speaker of the House Ronald Mariano (617-722-2500) and ask him to oppose H.2370.
Advocacy is rarely loud or easy. More often, it is consistent, grounded, and carried forward by those willing to remain engaged over time. Lobby Day was a reminder of that steady resolve, and of the role each of us plays in sustaining it.
If you believe in this work, we invite you to partner with us. Your generosity directly fuels our ability to advocate, educate, and stand for life across Massachusetts. Please consider making a donation today to help ensure this work continues with strength and clarity in the days ahead.
