Parents, a new school year is right around the corner – do you know what your children will be learning in sex ed?
At MFI, we’ve been alerting MA families to the dangerous and destructive Comprehensive Sexuality Education being taught in our public schools. We’ve sounded the alarm on the many gender-ideology-saturated, graphic sex ed curricula being used throughout the Commonwealth. We’ve empowered parents to see what is being used in their school through our Sex Ed Map, and exposed the worst offenders on our Massachusetts Informed Parents Substack.
While drawing attention to graphic sex ed in MA schools has made a real difference – thousands of students opted out in one MA community alone, and another revised its sex ed curriculum after parent pushback – parents still have reason to be concerned. Oftentimes, public schools still attempt to usurp parental authority with content promoting sexual activity, alternate sexual orientations, and sexual and gender confusion, instead of letting parents teach their children these topics at home. And to make matters worse, with MA schools now inserting gender and sexuality discussions into subjects like English and Social Studies, many parents are not informed that this material will be taught in the first place.
But thanks to the recent Supreme Court decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor, a parents’ right to opt out is clearer than ever. Not only can parents opt out of sex ed under the MA opt out law, but they can also opt their child out of surveys, instruction on gender identity and sexuality, use of preferred pronouns, and other topics that conflict with their religious beliefs. The Massachusetts Liberty Legal Center (MLLC) has also created resources to assist you in opting your children out, including this sample opt out letter. We encourage you to submit this letter before or at the beginning of the school year, sending one copy to your child’s teacher and another to the principal.
MFI will continue to uncover the truth about the radical indoctrination occurring in public schools, and we encourage you to contact your local school district for this information as well. If you feel as if your parental rights in education have been violated, please contact MLLC.
