On Monday, the U.S. Department of Education announced that it is officially recognizing June as Title IX Month, a significant and encouraging shift away from the LGBT-centered messaging promoted by the department under the previous administration. This announcement follows months of the Trump administration affirming its commitment to restoring Title IX to its original purpose: protecting women and girls.
In February, President Trump signed an executive order titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” a directive that reaffirms the intent of Title IX by ensuring that biological males cannot compete in female sports at the K–12, collegiate, or Olympic levels. This directly counters Biden-era policies that allowed male athletes who identify as female to participate in women’s competitions, eroding both fairness and safety. Schools that refuse to comply now risk losing federal funding. You can read our updated Title IX brief to learn more.
But the fight in Massachusetts is far from over.
Despite clear federal guidance, Massachusetts schools continue to double down on gender ideology, openly defying Title IX protections. In response, our legal team has created a powerful tool for parents.
The Massachusetts Liberty Legal Center has developed a Title IX Complaint Template to help families take action when schools fail to protect girls’ locker rooms, bathrooms, and sports teams. The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights has already begun investigating violations, including an inquiry into the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).
If your local school is violating Title IX, use our complaint template to file an official report and request federal enforcement. Now is the time to hold schools accountable and stand up for our daughters.
However, we cannot rely on Washington alone.
Federal action is essential, but lasting change must happen here in Massachusetts. Under current state law, boys must be allowed to participate in girls’ school sports if there is no equivalent boys’ team or if a boy identifies as a girl. This puts female athletes in unfair and unsafe situations.
That is why we are urging support for H.584/S.350, the Act to Ensure Fairness and Safety in School Sports. This bill would give athletes and their coaches the legal right to opt out of competitions against the opposite sex without facing discipline or penalties.
Your voice matters. Legislators need to hear from parents and citizens who care about restoring fairness and protecting girls in sports. Contact your elected officials today and urge them to safeguard girls’ athletic competitions.
This June, while the federal government takes steps to reclaim Title IX, let us do the same in Massachusetts. Join us in standing for truth, protecting our daughters, and restoring fairness in women’s sports.
