In August 2024, the Massachusetts Liberty Legal Center (MLLC), in partnership with the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), filed a federal lawsuit against the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This case challenges the state’s unconstitutional and ideologically motivated campaign to discredit, target, and silence pro-life pregnancy resource centers.
Pregnancy resource centers, like our client, Your Options Medical, exist to protect life and offer compassionate support to women facing unplanned pregnancies. These centers provide free services such as ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, counseling, parenting classes, and essential baby supplies. Their mission is rooted in the unwavering belief that every human life has inherent dignity and value, beginning at conception.
Instead of respecting this life-affirming work, the Commonwealth has pursued an aggressive strategy of hostility and suppression, aiming to undermine the free speech and outreach of these faith-based organizations simply because they advocate for the unborn.
In response to our lawsuit, the state filed a motion to dismiss the case. We are now preparing for a hearing on May 8th, 2025, where MLLC and ACLJ will present oral arguments before the court, urging it to allow the case to move forward and affirm the constitutional rights of pro-life centers to continue their mission without government interference or retaliation.
