This past year was a record-breaking one for Massachusetts Family Institute achievements. We look back over 2024, with gratitude to the Lord and for our faithful supporters. Together, we are advancing, one win at a time!

MFI has faced many challenges but recognizes that retreating from the assault on our families and freedoms is not an option. We must continue to raise a strategic defense to safeguard our values and children’s futures.

And that is exactly what we have done on multiple fronts this year. I want to share some significant MFI victories that your steadfast support has made possible.

Attacks against our families and our lawful rights have increased exponentially. Citizens are confronted with numerous threats to their fundamental rights: free speech is denied as conservative voices are silenced, religious liberty is mocked, faith-based activities are restricted, and parental rights are increasingly undermined by radical educators and “experts.” Although our state and federal constitutions uphold our fundamental rights, those in power frequently disregard them.

MFI Expanded Our Legal Advocacy to Address Threats to Fundamental Freedoms

One of the most notable MFI accomplishments this year was launching the Massachusetts Liberty Legal Center.

The MLLC mission is to promote a flourishing culture where free speech is respected, religious liberty is cherished, and families thrive. Securing legislative wins at the state house that fortify our treasured freedoms is a challenge, that’s why we are taking the fight to the courts. With a dedicated legal center, MFI will have increased capacity to address the issues that matter the most. We will do this by providing excellent legal representation in strategic cases that strengthen families and ensure First Amendment rights are respected. With your help, MFI can hire additional full-time attorneys to take on the legal fights we must win.

MFI Exposed a Drag Queen Performance in Sutton High School Resulting in Local Change

In Sutton, MFI exposed a controversial drag performance at the high school’s “Connections Conference,” where a drag queen performed inappropriately in front of students. As a result of MFI efforts, a group of local advocates formed to hold the school accountable, demanding action from the administration to protect students from similar events. We are happy to report that the Connections Conference has been canceled, and the superintendent who approved the conference has resigned. Furthermore, the citizens of Sutton voted in school committee members whose priority is improving the quality of education for students instead of being activists for woke ideologies! Your generous donations will make it possible for MFI to continue to investigate and report on harmful agendas in public education and arm local advocates with the information they need to bring needed change.

MFI Empowered Parents to Reclaim Education with the Church-Based Learning Center Initiative

The MFI Church-Based Learning Center Initiative is helping empower churches and parents to reclaim the education of children.

Parents are leaving public schools in increasing numbers to escape the woke ideology being forced upon their children. Many are turning to the affordable homeschooling option and need support for themselves and their students. MFI has collaborated with its expansive church network to establish church-based learning centers (CBLC) to help the mass exodus of families from government schools. These centers offer a variety of helpful services like homeschool coaching, curriculum assistance, elective and enrichment classes, community days and events, and more. And because of the partnership MFI has formed with national groups, like the Children’s Scholarship Fund, some CBLCs can offer their services for as low as $100! Consider a financial gift today to help MFI increase our efforts to rescue children from failing public schools by establishing more church-based learning centers in 2025.

MFI is Growing the OPT OUT of the Pornographic Sex Education Movement

For the third year in a row, record numbers of K-12 students have opted out of pornographic sex education in response to MFI advocacy!

Last year, nearly 4,000 students were opted out of sex education classes by their parents just in Worcester alone. In addition, over 75 towns and cities have started their own OPT OUT Movements! Regarding legislation, MFI successfully mobilized citizens to defeat a bill that would have mandated a controversial framework for school districts teaching sex ed. This bill would have also handed control over local sex education curricula to an unelected state bureaucracy, instead of allowing districts to decide for themselves. When you give to MFI you make our advocacy to protect children in education possible.

MFI Supported School Committees with Training and Resources

School committees play a crucial role in fostering a safe and respectful educational environment for students and parents.

To better equip school committees in their important work, MFI trained and supported them in implementing effective policies that uphold parental rights and protect students from political agendas.

By establishing relationships with school officials and offering ongoing support, MFI ensured that school leaders in multiple districts were well-equipped to navigate the complexities of policymaking, promoting a more balanced approach to education that prioritizes both student safety and parental engagement. With your financial assistance, MFI can increase its support of school committees working to pass common-sense policies in local districts.

MFI Protected Life at the State House

MFI played a crucial role in defeating several bills that threatened life and the charitable work of pregnancy resource centers (PRC).

Together with pro-life allies, the collective advocacy efforts of MFI— including testifying at the State House, meeting with legislators, making phone calls, and sending emails— several anti-life bills were successfully defeated. The PRC gag rule, a bill that threatened the free speech rights of PRCs and would have imposed harsh fines for their work was sent to study, effectively stopping it. The radical abortion expansion bill that would have removed key safeguards for late-term abortions, allowed abortions without parental consent, and forced medical professionals to perform abortions against their conscience was also defeated. Another legislative victory was won with the halting of the Physician-Assisted Suicide Bill, which would have invited abuse of the most vulnerable and created a slippery slope toward devaluing life. Your faithful giving will help MFI continue to speak up to protect the sanctity of life.

MFI Upheld the Religious Liberty of a Pro-Life Pharmacist

When the national pharmacy chain where a pro-life pharmacist worked started providing abortion pills to customers, she reached out to MFI for help. Because of her Christian belief that life begins at conception, she could not in good conscience participate in abortion. MFI drafted a religious accommodation request for her, asking that she not be forced to dispense the pill and pointing out that she has legal rights that protect her beliefs. Thankfully, her employer quickly granted the request. When you give to MFI, you join us in our mission to promote religious liberty in the Commonwealth.
