MFI Launches Massachusetts Liberty Legal Center!

We are excited to announce the launch of Massachusetts Liberty Legal Center, a nonprofit legal center dedicated to restoring fundamental rights in Massachusetts. MLLC’s mission is to promote a flourishing culture in which free speech is respected, religious liberty is cherished, and families thrive in Massachusetts. We will do this by providing excellent legal representation in strategic cases that will advance these causes.

We believe that legal support is more important than ever in the fight for faith and liberty in Massachusetts. We are facing new threats: speech is under attack, as conservative, pro-life, and pro-family voices are silenced by government actors; religious liberty is ridiculed, as people of faith are derided as “bigots” and openly discriminated against; and families face an ever-growing assault as parental rights are undermined by radical educators and “experts.” Our state and federal constitutions recognize that we have fundamental rights, but these rights are routinely ignored by those in power. It’s time to push back.

Here is what you need to know about MLLC and our plan to preserve fundamental rights and freedoms:

We’re an initiative of Massachusetts Family Institute, the pro-family leader in Massachusetts. MLLC is affiliated with MFI, a non-partisan public policy organization that has been advancing strong families and communities in Massachusetts for over 30 years.

We’re Faith-Based. Our commitment to this work is rooted in our faith. At the same time, we will partner with people of all faiths or none to defend constitutional rights and enable Massachusetts communities to flourish.

We’re not new at this. Although MLLC is a new organization, we’re not starting from scratch. MFI, our parent organization, has a track record of defending rights and advancing liberty through legal representation. Here are just a few examples of the types of cases that MFI has worked on, and that MLLC will continue to take:

We stood up for the rights of a Middleborough 7th-grader who was censored by his school for a shirt that said “There are Only Two Genders.”

We helped stop discriminatory ordinances that would have targeted pro-life pregnancy centers in Worcester and Easthampton.

We sued Ludlow Schools for secretly helping middle schoolers “transition” to a different gender, without parental knowledge or consent.

We defended the rights of Christian pastors to do “Bible story hours” at their local public library.

We drafted and helped pass policies in a Massachusetts school district to protect kids from sexualization and indoctrination.

We’re coalition builders. The opposition is too strong and the stakes are too high for members of our movement to work alone. We will partner with national, state, and local allies to achieve our mission.

We’re committed to do our work free of charge. We see our work as a crucial defense of liberty and rights and are committed to providing our services pro bono. The generous supporters who share our vision donate the funds that we need to provide all of our services without charging our clients a penny.

As we get to work, we hope that you will follow our progress and offer your prayers and support. We’ve done enough retreating in Massachusetts; together, it’s time to advance.

Massachusetts Liberty Legal Center is actively seeking to broaden its litigation efforts and is eager to connect with potential plaintiffs who have concerns related to free speech, religious liberty, and parents’ rights. Individuals who believe their case aligns with these areas are encouraged to reach out to MLLC. Additionally, MLLC invites attorneys interested in allying with the legal center in its mission and work to contact MLLC directly. All inquiries should be sent to [email protected].

Your faithful support makes it possible for MFI to protect our family values in the Commonwealth. Give a gift today!
