MFI Lawsuit Against Baker Stops Unfair COVID Restrictions on Churches

We are pleased to inform you that Governor Baker has rescinded unfair COVID restrictions on MA churches. The Governor’s announcement came just days after a lawsuit was filed against him for discriminatory restrictions on religious exercise.  The lawsuit was filed by First Liberty Institute, Massachusetts Family Institute, and the global law firm of Jones Day.  Click here to read the press release.

Under new guidance from Governor Baker, restrictions on capacity and social-distancing requirements at places of worship are advisory, rather than mandatory.  The new guidelines also eliminate the previous prohibition on communal gatherings.  Read the updated MA Safety Standards and Checklist for Places of Worship here.  For futher clarification of the newly published guidelines, contact MFI Director of Community Alliance, Michael King.
