Something GOOD on Beacon Hill!

When I drive into Boston to go to the State House, it’s usually to face yet another uphill battle to defend our shared values. It can be daunting at times and, frankly, a bit overwhelming. Part of what helps me stay positive is knowing some of the rich religious heritage that is literally carved into the stones of that building. That is why I’m excited to let you know about Pastor Paul Jehle’s FREE tour next week where he will explain the Christian history of our State House.

For example, did you know there is a statue of David with his foot on Goliath’s head on display near the welcome center? Or that the large murals hanging above the house chamber have profound religious meaning? I had the great pleasure of following Pastor Jehle (Executive Director of the Plymouth Rock Foundation) on a State House tour several years ago, and it was so encouraging to learn about the faith of our Massachusetts forebears, and how evidence of it permeates throughout the building.

When I see so many of our state leaders ignoring God and flaunting His commandments, it calls to mind Luke 19:40, where Jesus says, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” I highly recommend joining Pastor Jehle a week from today, Thursday, August 17th at 10 a.m. for this unique and uplifting walk through our Commonwealth’s Capitol.  You can meet Pastor Jehle’s tour group at the Bulfinch Pole in Ashburton Park at 9:45 a.m. for the 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. tour.

He is not able to give these tours often, so this is a great opportunity and perfect for school age children.

For our families,
