Rhode Island Senate expected to approve casino ballot question

The Rhode Island Senate is set to vote today on whether to ask state residents to approve casino games at the Newport Grand slot parlor. Newport Grand wants to offer table games such as poker and blackjack to compete with casinos expected to open here in Massachusetts. The House has already approved the referendum, and Senate passage is expected. The question would go before voters this fall. There is already a ballot question asking voters to approve a casino at the Twin River slot parlor in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
